We are all a “work in progress”. Even before we are born God has a plan and calling for our lives. As we grow and mature He reveals bits and pieces of this plan to us like little bread crumbs guiding us along a path leading to our destiny, and the fulfillment of that destiny. It is our job to recognize the pieces as we faithfully pick them up along the way. No matter how big or small the crumb… if God laid it out for us – it serves a mighty purpose in His “big picture” plan for our lives.
As I referenced in my post last month, A Beautiful Journey, God took me on quite the quest prior to revealing certain specifics to His call on my life. Now that He has begun to reveal some of the details I accept that they are just that – only “some” of the details…
The Word tells us in Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
What this scripture means to me is this: life is a journey… God is never finished with us. Regardless of our age God wants to use us where we are at. He has a life of excitement mapped out for each one of us!
Even as He begins to reveal bits and pieces of His plan for my life I understand that there is so much more to it than I could ever comprehend at this point. Therefore, I live my life in anticipation of the next “bread crumb” He will lay out for me; faithful to pick each one up, absorb it into my soul, and learn from it as I strive to grow in Him and fulfill His calling.
He uses each of us in different ways… each according to the unique gifts and talents He has given to us. Still trying to figure out what special gift or talent God has given to you? Don’t lose heart! There is something… it may not be as obvious as being a talented singer or artist… maybe it’s more subtle like being patient and kind to others “a people person”… in today’s world, this is becoming a “lost art”. There is such a need for people to simply be kind and patient… willing to work with others and show them compassion.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
Take note of what it is that you feel you are best at and/or most passionate about, and begin to ask God how He can use it for His glory. Once you identify your “specialty” – give it to God and nurture it. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there… God will bless you for your steps of faith and cultivate your talents beyond your wildest dreams.
For me, God has used my skills in communication, which I would never have imagined was my “gift” or “God given talent”, and transformed them into the ministry I am now pursuing – writing. Writing as a way to communicate a message of hope to women that they are “not alone” in their journeys through motherhood and life. A ministry that has grown leaps and bounds due to the vision the Lord has given me, and the calling He placed on my life.
Yes, as I followed the little bread crumbs through the various jobs I held and my career managing health clubs, working with and leading others, God was all along positioning me where He needed me to be in order to soak up the various skills I would need to fulfill the calling and destiny He placed on my life.
Be encouraged that God has a plan for you! Be aware of the little bread crumbs He has been leaving for you along the way and remember – He created you for a very special reason and is preparing you for something wonderful! You have something unique to offer… something that only YOU can do.
Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV) says: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;”

Oh Krissy,
You hit my heart with this. Being a late twenties girl with no marriage or children yet but a yearning for it, I’ve been contemplating God’s plan. What does He want to do with me? I know this season of singleness is a complete blessing and I want to use it to glorify Him. Thank you so much!
Hi Kimberly! I am so happy that this post spoke to your heart and met you where you are at. It is so true – life is a journey… we are just along for the ride as God guides us and leads us where we are supposed to go.
Enjoy the journey – soon you will look back at everything and see how God used each situation, each job, each person as a bread crumb guiding you down the path to your destiny. Blessings and love to you in Him! Krissy

Krissy,
God bless you and yours.
What a joy to read these words! So inspiring! I have been really thinking about God’s plan and purpose for my life. I know that even the crumbs have their purpose. It takes lots of grains of sand to make a beautiful beach after all.

Krissy, I love this! So well stated. I especially like this line, “Therefore, I live my life in anticipation of the next “bread crumb” He will lay out for me; faithful to pick each one up, absorb it into my soul, and learn from it as I strive to grow in Him and fulfill His calling.” That is exactly how I describe my experience of walking in the Spirit. Such beautiful imagery. I am on a wonderful journey of a specific calling Christ has put on my life. This is definitely how I am seeing it. It is like I am driving down a foggy road. I can only see a few feet ahead of me, but that is okay, because as He is ready, God keeps revealing the next section of road I am to follow. It makes life exciting! Blessings to you. You are a beautiful writer. ~jana
