I am a busy person, and I love it. I thrive on staying busy. Between being a wife, a mom, having a part time job, owning an event planning business, weekly dance and gymnastics classes, church on Sundays, laundry, cleaning house, cooking, etc, etc, things don’t slow down. Some people would hate it, but that’s what works for my family.
But, I’ve noticed lately that I’ve really gotten busier. I don’t really have “me time” to relax anymore. No more soaking in hot baths, or reading blogs, and sadly, no more reading my Bible. That should be a priority, but even it’s fallen to the wayside, and I can see that it’s causing a change in my life. When I read the Bible daily, I am fed spiritually. When I don’t read it, it seems as though something is missing. So, my spiritual resolution for 2013 is to get back into the habit of reading my Bible daily.
2nd Timothy 3:16-17 CEB reads,
Every scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for showing mistakes, for correcting, and for training character, so that the person who belongs to God can be equipped to do everything that is good.
My favorite part of that is “so that the person who belongs to God can be equipped to do everything that is good.” We belong to God, so without the Word, we are not properly prepared. The Bible is like our instruction book for life. When we don’t learn God’s Word, we don’t mature spiritually.
I look at it like this, I feed myself physically every day, so why not feed myself spiritually?
Even if I have to go to bed a bit later, or wake up earlier, or skip my lunch break now and then. Even if it’s just 5 minutes a day, I will spend time reading God’s Word, because I know without it, I won’t be equipped to do everything that is good.
Are you letting God equip you through His Word? Is this a spiritual resolution for you in 2013? Or if you have success in this discipline, share what has worked for you to make this an everyday experience with God.
Hi, I’m J. I’m an event planner, a momma, and a wife. I’m a child of God, a lover of horses, and a connoisseur of chocolate. I’m addicted to good food, good music, and good company. I blog about completely random and lovely things over at An Unstyled Life.

My goal this year is to read through the Bible again. I haven’t done it in at least two years. I have really stepped up the physical fitness the last several years and am faithful to that, but have not pursued spiritual “fitness”. This year, I want to get back into shape spiritually.

This SO speaks to me.
I made the pledge to journal every single day, and do a devotional along the way. This is important to me because, I’m comfortable enough in my reading that I know I can open the bible and find a scripture I love. What I really need is to pray and find the one He wants me to read. I need to go to Him with the availability and time it takes to engage in true dialogue!
Thank you for an amazing post darlin!

Great reminder! A few years ago I subscribed to Journey magazine and it gives daily verses to accompany the devotionals. I haven’t missed a morning with the Word since. Asolutely gives me fuel for my day.
