January’s Kindness Challenge

Last month I introduced a new challenge for the ladies of Fancy Little Things: The Kindness Challenge. It sprung from an idea that the most radical thing we can do as Christians is to be kind, to love the heck out of each other, to spread the love of Jesus in big and small and powerful ways.

Last month I asked you to reflect on 1 Corinthians 13 and ponder on how these words shape your perspective and opinions of kindness. But more importantly, I suppose, how these words shape your behavior and actions.

“If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.” [The Message]

Well, what do you think? What do you have to say about all this kindness business? I do hope you share in the comments!

I have been thinking about being a mommy a lot lately. Well obviously I guess. My son is 3 months old and to say that he brings absolute joy to my life is a severe understatement.

Our children change our lives, challenge us in new ways, stretch us to our limits. But above all, our children make our lives sweet, sweeter than I could have ever imagined.

How can you show your children kindness this month? What are little, spontaneous ways you can bring simple joys to your kids days? Whether your children are infants, toddlers, tweens and teens, or have kids of their own, how are you going to remind them that they mean the world to you?

  1. i love this Laura!!! i know i can say YES more.. to things i would typically say no {like today my husband said YES to cotton candy at the zoo for our son Jack… and he is overjoyed 5 hours later!}.

i commit to being more spontaneous. i have a slight {major} problem with scheduling our lives.. and these spur of the moment off-shoots are so fun for us & them.

  2. I am all about this! Being kinder to my kids, especially my tween who can be hard to handle at times. He needs it and I’ve been conscientious about it. Thanks for leading us that way and giving us a verse to ponder…I’m on board!
