Finding it challenging to get or make time for a workout?! me too! I’m just trying to keep the house from falling apart and keep good healthy food in the bellies of my family. It’s dark now by 6pm and it’s cold if you live in the northern states. I cannot wait for some well needed time off. Two weeks to get an opportunity to play with my family.
Maybe some of you need something to do quickly without having to pack the kids up and go to the gym; or have a time crunch; maybe you are visiting family and just need something to do in the house; OR maybe you’re just snowed in!
{I miss the snow!}
What you need:
- Baby-25 lbs or less with head control (this is ideal but feel free to use a bigger child that you can lift or try with a younger baby with minor adjustments to support the baby’s head)
-
mat or towel for the floor
All-Star Mommy Workout
1. Up, Down Shoulder Press- sing “here we go up, up, up! and here we down, down, down!” as you lift your child overhead. Do 5 then do humpty dumpty squats and do 5 more!
2. Humpty Dumpty Squat- hold baby into chest or hold baby in hands under their arm pits. For a non standing baby hold and squat up and down. For a standing baby, stand them up; squat down, pick up child and stand up. Sing “humpty dumpty” as you bring your child down to standing and repeat.
” Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the king’s hourses and all the king’s men Couldn’t put Humpty together again.”
*you could totally add the shoulder press and squat together instead of breaking them up!
3. Count along Push Ups-count out 10 push ups; have kids count with you, sit on your back, or have him/her lay down in front of you.
4. Wheels on the Bus Core: Crunches and bridges with baby on pelvis- sing “wheels on the bus” while doing 10 hip lifts followed by 10 crunches. How many verses can you do?
” The Wheels on the bus go round and round Round and round, round and round The wheels on the bus go round and round All through the town The wipers on the bus go swish, swish, swish Swish, swish, swish, swish, swish, swish The wipers on the bus go swish, swish, swish All through the town.”Wheels, windows, doors, horn, coins, wipers, baby, mommy, wheels?! I had to use my santa as my baby for these demonstrations because my baby was napping for a long time. life’s little blessings
5. Get out for a walk!
Oh, I live in Florida! Okay, maybe stay inside if it’s cold and turn on some music for a dance party together!
Or have stairs at your house? Climb those stairs!

Ruth this is so awesome! I had the most fun exercising with my son; we did peek-a-boo squats in front of the mirror and airplane crunches. He still likes to do it; he thinks it’s just another game. Get’s tough when they pass 30 pounds LOL
Very creative!! Keeping this around for (hopefully) baby #2

I know what you mean; the best part of doing exercise is listening to the baby laugh.
putting baby thoughts out there for you too!!!
